The Challenge
FlaiChat helps multilingual families communicate across language barriers using AI-powered translation, but many first-time users were unfamiliar with both AI and the app itself. The existing onboarding consisted of a few welcome screens that provided little guidance, leaving users uncertain about what the product did or how to get started.
The Goal
Create a more approachable onboarding experience that builds confidence, accommodates different levels of technical comfort, and helps users reach their first successful translation as quickly as possible.

The onboarding experience was redesigned around flexibility and clarity. Rather than forcing every user through the same flow, users can either skip onboarding entirely or choose a guided walkthrough tailored to first-time users. The experience introduces key features through simple illustrations, interactive setup steps, and progressive education instead of overwhelming users with information upfront.
